What examiners said
Many candidates appreciated that the functional group is the C=C. Incorrect responses included: C-O, O-H, C2H5 and COOH.
— Examiner report, October/November 2023, 5070/21 Q5(a)(i) (Cambridge)
Candidates found this challenging. Many named poly(ethene) or other addition polymers. The linkage was often drawn with no linking bonds or a portion of the polymer was drawn. A significant number omitted the question.
— Examiner report, May/June 2023, 5070/21 Q10(c) (Cambridge)
The general formula CnH2n was well known and only a very small proportion of candidates gave CnH2n+2. Some candidates put a plus sign in the formula, Cn+H2n.
