What examiners said
The weight of the tram is calculated by multiplying the mass by 9.8 m / s2 (g). Many candidates did this successfully. The most common mistake occurred when candidates divided the mass by 9.8, so instead of the correct weight they wrote 3571 N.
— Examiner report, May/June 2025, 0653/32 Q7(b) (Cambridge)
Many candidates successfully stated weight to gain credit. Gravity, stated by some candidates, was not accepted. Candidates are reminded that the force labelled R is the weight, which is the product of the mass and the gravitational field strength.
— Examiner report, February/March 2024, 0653/32 Q6(a)(ii) (Cambridge)
The majority of candidates correctly calculated the mass of the fire engine. The most common error was to multiply rather than divide.
