What examiners said
Where candidates are required to show a particular outcome they must include the relevant equation for the relationship, in this case, work done = force distance. Some candidates just showed the mathematical relationship between the numbers with no other indication of what this represented.
— Examiner report, May/June 2025, 0973/31 Q9(a)(ii) (Cambridge)
A significant number of candidates did not know the relationship between power, work done and time and so manipulated the figures incorrectly or used the value for force.
— Examiner report, May/June 2025, 0973/31 Q9(a)(iii) (Cambridge)
Few candidates knew that the form of energy stored in petroleum was chemical potential energy. Kinetic energy was a common correct answer for the second space.
— Examiner report, May/June 2022, 0973/31 Q6(e) (Cambridge)
