What examiners said
Candidates that recognised that the process responsible for the changes in composition was aerobic respiration, generally scored highly. Some candidates misinterpreted the question and only described the data in the table.
— Examiner report, May/June 2025, 0973/42 Q2(c)(ii) (Cambridge)
There were many answers referring to one outer shell electron. But few candidates linked the number of outer shell electrons with group number.
— Examiner report, May/June 2022, 0973/31 Q11(a)(ii) (Cambridge)
Many candidates correctly suggested differences between the composition of expired and inspired air. Some candidates described the difference in carbon dioxide levels, but this was given in the question and could therefore not be credited. Some candidates suggested that expired air would be warmer. This is a correct statement but did not answer the question.
