What examiners said

A large majority of candidates gave the correct answer. Some of the weaker candidates did not apply the correct order of operations and worked out first 6 + 4 = 10 then 10 ÷ 2 = 5, and a few wrote 6 ÷ 2 + 4 = 7.

— Examiner report, October/November 2023, 4024/11 Q1(a) (Cambridge)

A large majority of candidates multiplied correctly. Errors were made by some who misplaced the decimal point, usually 1.2 or 120.

— Examiner report, October/November 2023, 4024/11 Q1(b) (Cambridge)

Whilst the large majority worked out the correct temperature, the common errors were giving the answer –8 or combining the temperatures 20 and –12 to get 32 (sometimes written as 20 – –12) or –32.

— Examiner report, October/November 2023, 4024/11 Q3(a) (Cambridge)
