What examiners said

Comprehensive responses • Few candidates worked out the correct time. • Few found the lowest common denominator as their first step, and then generally went on to give the correct answer. • Some listed the times or multiples, and often had incomplete lists or arithmetic errors. Limited responses • A few added 30 and 34 mins to 0800 to give 0904. • A few made no attempt at this response.

— Examiner report, February/March 2026, 0580/32 Q23 (Cambridge)

Many did not attempt this. Of those who did attempt this, relatively few got a correct answer or a value that was worth a method mark. Often the answer was a factor from the given A or B.

— Examiner report, May/June 2025, 0580/11 Q22(b) (Cambridge)

This question was answered well; the most common error was to find the highest common factor 3xy. Candidates were able to get the lowest common multiple (LCM) of 15 and 18 but struggled to find the LCM of the algebraic parts.
