What examiners said
Almost all candidates answered this correctly. Occasionally a candidate gave the answer 90, incorrectly believing BE was the diameter and hence BFE was an angle in a semi-circle. Others gave the answer 67, incorrectly using opposite angles in a cyclic quadrilateral when in fact BCDEF is a pentagon.
— Examiner report, May/June 2025, 0607/21 Q13(a) (Cambridge)
There were many correct answers and it was good to see so many candidates who were able to work accurately and confidently with surds. A common error was to assume angle ACB was a right angle. There were also some candidates who obtained an answer of 10 because they were working with half of the base and with the smaller triangles. Some candidates who did not work with surds lost an accuracy mark...
— Examiner report, February/March 2024, 0607/42 Q9(e) (Cambridge)
Most candidates used a straight edge and pencil to draw the angle. Some drew an angle of 43 which might be because 50 was found on the protractor then the scale was read in the wrong direction giving 50 – 7 instead of 50 + 7. Others drew the obtuse angle 123 using the wrong scale on the protractor. Some drew their angle in the middle of the line or at the right-hand end instead of at A.
