— Examiner report, February/March 2023, 0455/22 Q1(b) (Cambridge)

Some candidates showed a basic understanding of what was microeconomics but had difficulty in explaining the term. A clear answer was ‘The study of individual markets such as ice cream’. Other less accurate answers included ‘how households behave’. Very weak responses were linked to their understanding of micro e.g., ‘microeconomics is a small part of the economy.’

— Examiner report, October/November 2020, 0455/23 Q2(a) (Cambridge)

Some strong answers contrasted the effects of higher government spending on the quality and quantity of exports produced and discussed the effects on demand for imports. A number of other candidates showed confusion between a surplus on the current account of the country’s balance of payments and a surplus on the country’s budget.
