What examiners said

Most candidates gained credit for one difference between sound waves and electromagnetic waves.

— Examiner report, May/June 2025, 0653/43 Q9(c)(iii) (Cambridge)

Very few candidates answered this correctly. The lower pitch is shown by wave A since the waves have a lower frequency. The larger amplitude in wave A also makes this the louder sound.

— Examiner report, October/November 2023, 0653/31 Q9(b) (Cambridge)

Most candidates stated that since the range of hearing is from 20–20000 Hz, the sound emitted from the Bunsen burner would be audible. Credit was missed by those candidates who omitted any reference to the audible range, or who gave an incorrect range.

— Examiner report, February/March 2022, 0653/32 Q6(c) (Cambridge)
