What examiners said
A common error was to try and apply the equation s = d/t rather than s = at. Weaker candidates often tried to rearrange the equations that they could recall which, for this question, was not necessary.
— Examiner report, May/June 2025, 0653/43 Q7(b)(ii) (Cambridge)
This was answered correctly by most candidates. One common mistake was to suggest that the object was stationary. The response ‘constant motion’ was not accepted.
— Examiner report, February/March 2025, 0653/42 Q7(a)(i) (Cambridge)
A small number of candidates identified air resistance as being a form of friction. Incorrect responses included energy, kinetic energy and gravity.
