What examiners said
Successful candidates were able to clearly show their understanding of period and amplitude. However, candidates should be encouraged to use a ruler and be precise about the length of their label arrows. When showing the period of a wave, candidates should be encouraged to choose two clear points, such as the points where the wave crosses the time axis or two adjacent maxima.
— Examiner report, October/November 2023, 0653/43 Q6(b)(i) (Cambridge)
A significant proportion of candidates opted for B. Although this method does produce a value for the period, option C provides a more accurate one, as specified in the question.
— Examiner report, October/November 2022, 0653/11 Q28 (Cambridge)
The most common error was to read the value at the wrong point, commonly at the bottom of the lower ring.
— Examiner report, May/June 2022, 0653/61 Q4(a)(i) (Cambridge)
