What examiners said
Very few candidates seemed to recognise the description as electrolysis. The chemical change of a compound includes a process and new products. Candidates should use the term breakdown/separation (or electrolysis if they recognise the role of the electric current) and identify the products as elements rather than using the vague term substances.
— Examiner report, May/June 2025, 0653/43 Q4(c) (Cambridge)
Only a few candidates recognised that bond breaking is an endothermic reaction.
— Examiner report, May/June 2025, 0653/43 Q5(a)(iii) (Cambridge)
