What examiners said

Candidates found this calculation demanding and took a number of different approaches with different levels of success. Some pursued the wrong approach and sought to calculate the distance using the speed equation, thus gaining no credit. Others tried to work out the area under graph but were unable to use the correct method for the various shapes involved, generally gaining partial credit due to...

— Examiner report, May/June 2025, 0973/32 Q9(a)(ii) (Cambridge)

Not all candidates recognised that it was necessary to calculate the area under the graph to calculate the distance. Common incorrect answers were 4500 and 4000 m.

— Examiner report, May/June 2025, 0973/41 Q10(a)(iii) (Cambridge)

Some candidates realised that the average speed was 2.5 m / s rather than the speed being 5 m / s and used this to calculate the distance travelled.
