What examiners said

Few candidates scored all three marks. Identifying C as the stoma/stomata was known by most candidates although a number suggested guard cells.

— Examiner report, May/June 2023, 0973/31 Q7(a) (Cambridge)

Almost all candidates correctly identified palisade mesophyll cells as the cells that contained the most chlorophyll. A few gave the incorrect response of spongy mesophyll cells. Chloroplast was the most frequently seen incorrect answer.

— Examiner report, May/June 2023, 0973/41 Q4(c) (Cambridge)

The air spaces and stoma were often both identified as allowing efficient gas exchange in the leaf.

— Examiner report, May/June 2019, 0973/41 Q1(b)(i) (Cambridge)
