What examiners said

There were a few good suggestions for why deforestation causes eutrophication, these were based on the erosion of soil containing nitrate ions. Others suggested that the lack of absorption of water and mineral ions by trees leads to polluted run-off into water courses or that decayed matter and increased use of fertiliser is responsible. Some confused the terms eutrophication with extinction.
