What examiners said

A reasonable number of candidates offered fully correct solutions. Some candidates were able to form a correct, unsimplified equation and were able to simplify this to a form without algebraic factorials. Some of these candidates formed a correct quadratic equation. A few candidates made a slip when rearranging to a solvable form. Some candidates were able to state a correct equation in terms of a...

— Examiner report, May/June 2025, 0606/23 Q11 (Cambridge)

This was generally well done. A few candidates did not know how to start the question, and some made sign errors where they did not know that AB is the negative of BA and tried to ‘fudge’ the result, but a good many scored full marks. Successful answers included clearly written routes, with calculations on the side, where necessary.

— Examiner report, October/November 2023, 0606/13 Q11(a) (Cambridge)

Most candidates wrote the correct answer down, although occasionally there were slips such as 17 7 instead of for the coefficient of b, and some tried, not always successfully, to multiply out 15 15 the bracket of λ .
