What examiners said

Often this was started but poorly answered with majority attempting converting kilometres to metres and relatively few attempting the conversion of hours to seconds. There were some who were close to the correct answer but as they did not show sufficient workings and rounded during the calculation or even truncated, they so did not get any marks.

— Examiner report, May/June 2024, 0580/11 Q23 (Cambridge)

In this question the successful candidates usually approached this by converting Sophie’s speed into km/h; a few converted the speed limit into m/min or converted both speeds into comparable units, usually km/min. Some converted between m and km correctly but were then unsure whether to multiply or divide by 60.

— Examiner report, October/November 2023, 0580/11 Q24(b) (Cambridge)

Most candidates had no difficulty in calculating the amount. In some cases candidates incorrectly divided by the exchange rate. Forgetting to round answers to the nearest rupee was the most common error.
