What examiners said
Most candidates understood the concept of indirect transmission of a disease and successfully described a way in which this could happen. The exchange of bodily fluids and transmission by red blood cells were not accepted. The pathogen had to be outside a person’s body, on an object or in the air, before entering an uninfected body to cause disease.
— Examiner report, February/March 2025, 0653/32 Q3(b)(ii) (Cambridge)
Some stronger candidates understood how to answer the question and many of these gained full credit. Although the question points candidates towards an answer in terms of particle separation many made no attempt to do this. Many candidates interpreted the graphical representation of the sound wave in terms of pitch, volume and frequency. Some candidates attempted to describe the graph in terms of...
— Examiner report, May/June 2023, 0653/43 Q9(a)(i) (Cambridge)
Some of the strongest candidates realised that the ear defenders caused the transfer of sound energy into other forms of energy, but only the idea of transformation into heat or thermal energy could be accepted.
